Search Engines Now Include Social Media Element

Did you know that search engines are changing their search criteria? Before if a consumer put ‘best digital camera’ or ‘local plumber’ into a search engine those websites with the best search engine optimisation (SEO) or most appropriate word would appear, now the algorithms will also take into account the social media habits of a user and their friends or followers.

Facebook ‘likes’ and Twitter activity are more relevant for algorithms because of the rise of social media and the increase in ‘sharing’ information.

This also has a bearing on a company’s website meaning that, new content is regularly needed to refresh a site to attract the search engine spiders.

If you haven’t got a blog already it’s probably worth considering one? It will give you a chance to show off your expertise in the industry sector and let you show a ‘human’ face to the company.

Other good additions to a company website are a ‘news’ section. Make sure you include regular press releases on your activity and also write up case studies of happy companies.

Keep those spiders crawling!
